EMERGE STUDY

Exciting news!! The EMERGE trial is now up and running in Galway and our first two babies are delivered and doing great! This landmark study led by Prof Fidelma Dunne aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a medication called metformin in treating gestational diabetes mellitus. We are recruiting pregnant women at the moment. If you would like to find out more or volunteer, please contact our research nurse Ms Michelle Courcy Byrne @ 086 0208726.

An International Non-interventional Cohort Study to Evaluate the Safety of Treatment With Insulin Detemir in Pregnant Women With Diabetes Mellitus

Novo nordisk study. This study is conducted in Europe. The purpose of the study (Diabetes Pregnancy Registry) is to evaluate the safety of treatment with insulin detemir in pregnant women with diabetes mellitus. Recruitment for this study will begin in early 2016

Continuous glucose monitoring in women with type 1 diabetes in pregnancy trial

The primary objective of this study is to determine if RT CGM (Real Time-Continuous Glucose Monitoring) can improve glycemic control in women with T1D who are pregnant or planning pregnancy without substantially increasing the rate of hypoglycemia. We are currently recruiting women with type 1 diabetes who are pregnant (12 weeks or less) to participate in this study.

DALI Project

VITAMIN D & LIFESTYLE INTERVENTION FOR GESTATIONAL DIABETES MELLITUS PREVENTION

The EU-project DALI is the framework for 13 partners from 11 countries to cooperate in a Europe-wide and large-scale study with the aim to develop effective preventive measures for GDM.
During the next four and a half years, DALI will investigate the actual spreading of the disease by using standardized diagnostic methods. Furthermore, possible preventive measures will be tested.
We look forward to the results of this study, due to be published in 2016.
